Accessibility

Our commitment

These books exist to reach people, all of them. Every purchase comes with at least one fully accessible way to read or hear it, and the surfaces around the books aim for WCAG 2.1 AA. If anything here gets in your way, write to hello@stantaylor.com and a human will fix it or set you up personally.

The apps: the fully accessible reading experience

In the Stan Taylor app for iPhone, iPad, and Android, every chapter is real text:

  • VoiceOver and TalkBack read the books and every control naturally.
  • Dynamic Type / system font scaling is honored everywhere, up to the largest accessibility sizes.
  • The reader offers Atkinson Hyperlegible and OpenDyslexic typefaces alongside the book faces, with adjustable size, spacing-stable layout, and dark or light themes.
  • The system Reduce Motion setting switches the app’s animations off.
  • Audiobooks are complete narrated editions with lock-screen controls, adjustable speed, and chapter-level handoff between reading and listening.

This web reader

To protect the books, the web reader draws pages as images rather than selectable text, which also means screen readers cannot read that surface out of the box. Two answers to that: the app above is the fully accessible experience, and on request we switch any account to the screen-reader edition of this web reader: the same book, rendered as real text your assistive technology can read, with your highlights, positions, and audio intact. Write to hello@stantaylor.com from your account email and it’s usually on within a day.

The rest of this site (library, store, marks, the audio player, settings) is regular text, fully keyboard-operable (arrow keys turn pages in the reader; Escape closes), labeled for screen readers, and honors your system’s Reduce Motion preference.
